Candle Care

How to burn your candle

1. Before lighting your candle, ensure that you have cleared a space so that no flammable objects are within 10cm. Read all safety sheets before lighting.

2. Light your candle in a well-ventilated room, away from drafts, or fans, which can cause sooting (black marks on the vessel), or rapid, uneven burning.

3. For best results, burn candles for one and a half to two hours at a time. This could help increase the burn time of your candle. Burning for less time can cause the candle to 'tunnel', which leaves a build-up of wax around the vessel's sides. Burning for longer periods (over four hours) can cause the wick to move, or slant.

4. Make sure you stop burning your candle when 10mm of wax remains at the bottom, keeping an eye on a burning candle when the wax is low.

How to care for wicks

1. Before lighting or re-lighting your candle, trim the wick to around 5mm.

2. Keep the melt pool clear of wick trimmings and matches, as debris in the wax can act as a secondary wick, encouraging your candle to burn faster.

3. After desired burn time, extinguish your wick with a snuffer. Burning for too long can cause the wick to move, or slant. If you see a flaming wick come close to the vessel wall, extinguish the flame and straighten the wick to prevent the vessel from cracking.

4. Long, or crooked wicks can create high flames, smoking, or sooting. Trimming the wick to 5mm (when the wax has set) is the easiest way to prevent this.

Our candles

Our candles are made from natural wax with no paraffin or preservatives. This means that when cooled, the wax can pull away and can be easily removed from the vessel. This is nothing to worry about, ensure that the wax is fully inside the vessel before lighting and the warming wax will then begin to re connect with the glass.

Each candle has a varying amount of burn time and we provide an estimate burn time for each candle. We also hand pour every one of our candles from our candle kitchen in Hampshire, meaning that sometimes, you may get a little extra.

Our reed diffusers

All of our reed diffusers are made from Augeo, which is made from renewable sources. Giving enhanced scent throw without causing damage to the environment. To give an extra kick of scent with your reed diffuser, turn the reeds in the bottle and enjoy. Sometimes, the liquid within the reed diffuser can discolour, don't worry, this may just be because of the room temperature or a reaction with the reeds, this will not effect the beautiful scent throw.
